Your CMA dollars at work

Campus Ministry in DOR exists "to help meet the needs of Catholics in their twenties and thirties ... on college campuses throughout the diocese." As such, it is one of the beneficiaries of the funds raised during DOR's annual Catholic Ministries Appeal.

The Corning Curmudgeon, aka CPT Tom, has a son who is a student at the Rochester Institute of Technology. Anthony recently attended Mass at the the on-campus Neumann Center, a part of DOR's Campus Ministry.

The Mickey Mouse, Super Soaker, Tie-dyed Vestments, Mardi Gras Mass

Anthony reports that the priest processed into mass behind the cross wearing the Mickey Mouse hat and a gold masquerade mask. Once the singing stopped, the first thing he did was blow a kazoo and say, "Happy Mardi Gras." He then proceeded to sprinkle the congregation with Holy Water, using a Super Soaker to get the job done.

Anthony also took some pictures:

This is Holy Mass, as interpreted by DOR's Campus Ministry Program.

These are your CMA dollars at work.

CPT Tom's full report is here.

Rich Leonardi's observations are here.

I don't know this priest, but he sure is "hep" or "hip" and "with it"

I can see him packing them in with his firm belief in the True Presence and all that we hold an teach in the Catholic Church. Why there won't be an empty seat in the local Pentecostal Church by the time he's driven out the Catholics through inanity, disbelief and non-catechesis.

And they wonder why they are not getting vocations in DOR!!

According to the original post, there were 20 people present for this liturgical abuse. Apparently few are impressed with this priest's antics.

I am sorry Lord, for all the pain caused by the DoR.

Does anyone know who this priest is? The RIT Neumann center website and shows one priest named Fr. Richard D. Hunt. He has a brief video message that you can watch on the website.

RochChaCha,

I found that video here. It could be the same priest as in the photos, but their quality is just too poor to be sure.

My son confirms that it is Father Richard Hunt, Jesuit. He is in the process of writing a letter to the CDWDS. He isn't even going to bother with Bishop Clark who won't do anything anyway. Apparently this is TYPICAL of the Newman Center there at RIT

How many blood pressure pills did you pop after reading this, Mike?

Larry,

When I was a kid in Catholic grammar school the good sisters spoke of Jesuits as though they were all just one step short of sainthood. A guy like this was not only unheard of, he couldn't be imagined.

I'm sure it was an idealized picture but the order did have an awful lot of respect.

Sure, they still have their Mitch Pacwas - a lot of them - but they also have a few too many guys like this.

Talk about dilution of the "brand."

Okay, I see I'm a bit late to this party and the conversation has deteriorated in my absence.
